San Diego Comic Con 2011- Wrap Up

The San Diego Convention Center from our hotel’s front door.

Our last day started slow and showed all the signs of a general mood of winding down… until after lunchtime. The crowds and sales suddenly came to life and we ended up with our best day to date. So it was a great way to wrap things up for our second year in San Diego. The only regret from the experience was a lack of time to spend out in the exhibit hall visiting other booths and vendors. I took a bit of time during the morning lull to document a few of our neighbor’s booths. Be sure and visit their sites for more fun and wonderfulness.

Cafe Diem, converted to SYFY themed restaurant.

Pretty in Pink

The folks from Mincing Mockingbird and Frantic Meerkat. A beautifully designed booth full of hilarious and expertly crafted material. As an added bonus…just about the nicest people you could meet.

The incredibly talented Ryan of Elephant Eater. He was approached by Disney this year.

Our friend Paul of Onion Head Monster fame. His work exudes a perfect pitch of humor.

Directly across from us, the talented Devon Devereaux.

To our right, the insanely popular Jennie from The Devil’s Panties.

Another wonderful neighbor and talented artist, John Brooks from 11th Hour Books.

Table detail shot from our good friends and booth neighbors Monkey Minion Press.

Crocheted Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle caps from Monkey Minion Press. They scored a pickup shot from a company that’s working on a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle documentary.

I was honored to sell the very first copy of my Superlative Heroes and Nefarious Villains limited edition book to editorial director Jason Rekulak (left) from Quirk Books.

Our good friends and booth neighbors from last year- Cesare and Kirstie of Curio and Co.

In addition to their well deserved Eisner nomination for Finding Frank and His Friend, they’ve been hard at work on some new and exciting projects. We had the pleasure of catching up with them over dinner a couple of times and can’t wait to see what’s next from them. What follows are a few shots from their extremely professional and beautiful booth. Be sure and get your copy of their latest delicious morsel of genius: Gadabout.

Our paperwork for the 2012 Comic Con has been filled out and submitted. Hoping to duplicate the magic again next year!

  1. Chet!

‘Twas great seeing your new work. Polished as always. So glad to see both of you back at Comic-Con.

    Looking forward to next year,
    Ryan 🙂

  2. Wow, sounds like all went comically well, so to speak. Great job to both of you. I know the experience was rewarding in many ways, as is, now, a moment or two to catch your breath at home. But then… what’s in store for us next year?!

  3. You’re posts have been fantastic to read, they have me aching to attend. The photos were great to pour over – next year’s show can’t come soon enough for me. Congratulations on all your success, now go take a nice long rest.
