The ChetArt Blue Genie Art Bazaar booth is ready for shoppers!
The 2016 Blue Genie Art Bazaar is an Austin, TX tradition. The event opens on Black Friday/November 25th at 10AM and will be open from 10AM-10PM every day forward until Christmas Eve (6PM.) With almost 200 artist’s spaces filled with local and handmade goods, this is an event well worth attending for all your fun and unique holiday gifts. This year Blue Genie will be at a new and beautiful location- 6100 Airport Blvd. across from ACC Highland.

“Crash Test Brand” by Chet Phillips
“Testing Myths” is a group art show tribute to Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman of Mythbusters fame. My piece places them in the world of Crash Test Dummies with a matchbox art design. Framed piece and a number of unframed matted versions will be available at the show’s venue opening on November 19th at Creature Features. A big thanks to Chogrin for curating this fun show.

Two National Lampoon film classics are paid tribute with quotes, icons and portraits. “Double Secret Probation” showcases John Belushi, a.k.a. Bluto from “Animal House.”
Chevy Chase a.k.a. Clark Griswold represents the time honored original “Vacation” with quotes and icons, complete with Walley World sign. Each is available as signed 11 x 14 prints in the ChetArt shop.

Gallery 1988 (West) presents Crazy for Cult X, an art show honoring cult film favorites. My contribution pays tribute to Monty Python and the Holy Grail with “King of the Britons.” Characters and phrases are intertwined into an illuminated manuscript presentation.

Rock ‘Em Snark ‘Em Robots by Chet Phillips
Gallery 1988 West presents “The Power of Mattel” show, a collection of artworks based on classic Mattel games and toys. My contribution, titled “Rock ‘Em Snark’Em Robots,” is a mashup of Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots with Mystery Science Theater 3000 robots Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot. Also included are a few Kaiju references.
Show opening is Friday, September 30th and on display through October 15th.

Wizard World 2016 Wrap Up
A highlight for me was a visit from Judge Reinhold. He purchased several prints and greeting cards, was truly supportive and graciously posed for a picture.
Wizard World Comic Con Austin was a great show on many levels. Wonderful support and purchases from attendees and the opportunity to visit with friends, fellow artists and fans, both returning and new.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to stop by and visit! The artist alley area was jam packed with talent.
