Taking Austin Books’ birth year, 1977, as their inspiration, twenty-three talented artists will help pay tribute to the legendary comic book store via limited edition prints and original artwork. For the “Spirit of ’77” show, I created 2 pieces celebrating 2 pop culture icons from the year 1977. Saturday Night Live’s Samurai Delicatessen skit with John Belushi and Chewbacca from Star Wars. Two National Lampoon film classics are paid tribute with quotes, icons and portraits. “Double Secret Probation” showcases John Belushi, a.k.a. Bluto from “Animal House.”

Chevy Chase a.k.a. Clark Griswold represents the time honored original “Vacation” with quotes and icons, complete with Walley World sign. Each is available as signed 11 x 14 prints in the ChetArt shop.
