Curio & Co.- AZR-0 Robots in the Wild

AZR_Splash_Behance_v2_Title_WEB1400Our good friends – and booth neighbors for this upcoming San Diego Comic-Con – have put together a project right at the intersection of art and science. It’s called AZR-0: Robots in the Wild, and takes the form of a scientist’s illustrated journal of her field study observing wild robots on a distant planet – they’re thinking of it as Gorillas in the Mist meets I, Robot. Like all of the Curio & Co. products, the book will have their sweet sense of humor and an insane attention to detail – like 100% handwritten entries – so that it will feel like you’re holding an artifact or a prop from a film.

More about Curio & Co.:

Curio & Co. is a small studio, founded in Vienna in 2010 to create pop culture collectibles from a fictional universe. From animation and comics to vintage advertisements and games – they are kind of keeping the game of make believe going and thinking of their products as immersive experiences, with all of the details (down to the names of fictional artists or production companies) and the choice of materials carefully chosen to be both as believable and silly as possible. They don’t even use their real names on the products, using a series of pseudonyms that fit the setting in order to keep the illusion going. It must drive their lawyers crazy.

They’ve just launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring their book to print. Visit the project page to take a look at the video (I can firmly attest that Cesare and Kirstie are actually that charming in person!)

Be sure to share the link with the robot fans in your life, and look for Curio & Co. (Small Press table O-02) right next to us at San Diego Comic-Con this summer!
