On a crisp November morning in 1889, our world was transformed with the appearance of a dimensional rift behind the sleepy cottage of Conrad Rookwood Corrigan. The mysterious world populated by Imaginary Friends was revealed and humankind would never be the same.
Imaginary Friends: A Cross-Dimensional Field Guide introduces the basics of this monumental event with facts and details of the discovery, character studies, the formation of an exploration team and even pop culture influences.
This 31 page pamphlet book written and illustrated by Chet Phillips focuses on the magical revelations gathered from the “Age of Imagined Enlightenment.”
“A must read for anyone interested in the future of cross-dimensional alliances.”
— Argus Pringlesheet
“The quintessential introductory guide for learning about Imaginary Friends.”

Our good friends – and booth neighbors for this upcoming San Diego Comic-Con – have put together a project right at the intersection of art and science. It’s called AZR-0: Robots in the Wild, and takes the form of a scientist’s illustrated journal of her field study observing wild robots on a distant planet – they’re thinking of it as Gorillas in the Mist meets I, Robot. Like all of the Curio & Co. products, the book will have their sweet sense of humor and an insane attention to detail – like 100% handwritten entries – so that it will feel like you’re holding an artifact or a prop from a film.
More about Curio & Co.:
Curio & Co. is a small studio, founded in Vienna in 2010 to create pop culture collectibles from a fictional universe. From animation and comics to vintage advertisements and games – they are kind of keeping the game of make believe going and thinking of their products as immersive experiences, with all of the details (down to the names of fictional artists or production companies) and the choice of materials carefully chosen to be both as believable and silly as possible. They don’t even use their real names on the products, using a series of pseudonyms that fit the setting in order to keep the illusion going. It must drive their lawyers crazy.
They’ve just launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring their book to print. Visit the project page to take a look at the video (I can firmly attest that Cesare and Kirstie are actually that charming in person!)
Be sure to share the link with the robot fans in your life, and look for Curio & Co. (Small Press table O-02) right next to us at San Diego Comic-Con this summer!
If you plan to attend this year’s WonderCon, be sure to visit the ChetArt table in the Small Press Area.
ChetArt will have a table at the 2016 Staple! Independent Media Expo, March 5th and 6th. Find me in the Main Hall at table #4, on the right hand wall as you enter the room. I’ll have lots of signed prints, posters, books, card sets, stickers and more. Visit this LINK for more info, a list of exhibitors and floor map. Bumperactive will be in the lobby creating custom art t-shirts. Get a ChetArt shirt made just for you.

Another great year at San Diego’s International Comic Con has come and gone. We had a fantastic week of sales, fun and time visiting with wonderful friends. The new Kaiju Baseball card sets, posters and pins were very well received, along with the Ten Tall Tales books and pop culture cats postcard sets. Below are some visual highlights from the show.
One of the highlights for me was a visit from Adam Smasher, owner of Hero Complex Gallery in L.A. I’ve had the pleasure of being in several of Adam’s awesome pop culture themed shows over the last couple of years. I look forward to participating in his exciting line up of 2015 fall shows.
We stayed in a storm of constant activity throughout the length of the show. This shot represents one of the calmer moments. A big shout out thank you to ALL the incredible supporters who visited with words of support and $.
Ken Lamplugh stopped by the booth, sporting his ChetArt T-Shirt. Thanks Ken, for all your great support.
Our great booth neighbors Ryan and Paul. Paul shows off his new drink koozie line with “Am I in the Mood for Evil or Beer?” (Ryan appears to have made his choice.) You couldn’t ask for better neighbors and these guys always make me laugh with their great sense of humor and awesome creativity.
Posing at the booth with my lovely and talented wife Julie of Dancing Cat Bindery. She went above and beyond this year, putting together a beautiful binding for our Ten Tall Tales.
