Incognito Laser Cut Pin Series

The “Incognito” series of laser cut wooden pins created by Chet Phillips showcases animals wearing masks. Each pin measures approx. 2 inches square. Two layers of wood give them eye catching depth. Bottom layer made from 1/8″ maple hardwood and top layer 1/8″ cherry hardwood. Series includes: “Wood Spirit,” “Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing,” “The Trojan Bird” and “Sloths of the Serengeti.”

Guillermo del Toro- 2018 Oscars

John McTiernan Show- HCG

Hero Complex Gallery presents an art show devoted to the films of director John McTiernan. My contribution imagines a portrait of the creature from Predator creating havoc in ancient Japan. Framed version including gold foiling pen details will be available in the gallery.

Gallery 1988 in L.A. presents their annual Crazy 4 Cult art show with the theme of cult movies. My submission combines characters, objects and quotes from Luc Besson’s “Fifth Element.” Signed limited edition prints available HERE.

For 2018, two calendars showcasing matchbox art from Chet Phillips.

“Got a Light?” is a 6″ x 12″ wall calendar displaying a variety of pop culture characters in the form of vintage matchbox labels. “Sci-Fi Transport” displays 12 vehicles from science fiction movies and TV and is presented in a CD case sized desktop format (measures 5.4″ x 4.65″) Both are printed on 100 gloss book paper. Wall calendar is wire bound with hanger and desktop version comes in plastic CD case that flips open for display.

For the “Spirit of ’77” show, I created 2 pieces celebrating 2 pop culture icons from the year 1977. Saturday Night Live’s Samurai Delicatessen skit with John Belushi and Chewbacca from Star Wars. Kaiju Man Accordion Book

“Kaiju Man” is an accordion style book measuring 4.75″ x 6″ folded and approx. 37″ x 6″ when opened and expanded. Through words and pictures it tells the story of a man who experiences a dramatic transformation with ultimately tragic results.

Packaged in a paper sleeve with Chiyogami paper strip, signed with Japanese chop that translates to “Chet.”

San Diego Comic Con 2017

San Diego Comic Con 2017: ChetArt table in the Small Press area, table O-01. 2017 was a great year in San Diego for us thanks to the great support of everyone who came by to purchase and visit. Thank you all for the fantastic time! Here are some highlights of the show floor with exhibits and cosplay.

Preview night! Jeffrey Vaca presented me with a vintage game cartridge version of my Parzival’s Quest artwork that I created in tribute to Ready Player One. Thank you Jeffrey, for the wonderfully creative gift!

Another great highlight of the show was a visit from Cory Doctrow. Cory has been a great supporter over the years, highlighting several of my projects on boingboing. Thank you for taking the time to come by for the visit, Cory!

Our great neighbors Paul Friedrich and Ryan Claytor in Small Press.

The first time in seven years straight without our good friends Cesare and Kirstie of Curio and Co. They sat out this year and were truly missed. Check out their site of amazing things.

30 Years Later Gallery 1988- Predator

Gallery 1988 presents “30 Years Later,” an art show celebrating movies released in 1987. My contribution titled “Predator Tin Toy” pays tribute to “Predator” as a black light tin toy version of the movie’s monster. (Note that the Yautja letters below the chest TV spell out “Dutch.”
