Last weekend during the Staple! show I had the pleasure of finally meeting the tremendously talented Lisa Turner of Turner’s Tokens. Card sets have been donated for their Midnight Costume Contest.
It’s time again for that wonderful annual event: March MODOK Madness, a curated blog of MODOK inspired artwork. A big thanks to mastermind Brendan Tobin for including my version from the Order of Nefarious Villains, SCORN.
Next weekend marks the seventh annual Staple! show, the event to promote independent creative media: comics, art, animation and self-published literature. If you find yourself wandering around within the city limits of the live music capital of the world, come on by!
The Order of Nefarious Villains serve as the evil counterpart to the Union of Superlative Heroes. Spawned from the dark recesses of spider pits and graveyard shadows, this collection of evil deviants inhabit the same parallel Steampunk Victorian universe as their heroic foes. 20 cards in the set, including the characters Professor Cephalopod, Sir Samuel Lodestone, Black Piranha, Feline Fräulein, Lord Venomous, King Congo plus 14 more. I recently had the honor of being included in the Daryl Wise and Linda Hellfritsch publication “Secrets of Corel Painter Experts.” Each of the seventeen artists are given a chapter that includes a step by step process and a gallery of works.
Thanks to the overwhelming demand for this card set due to some tremendous blog spotlights, quantities became limited very quickly. Additional sets are now available. Thank you to everyone for your tremendous support and interest in buying. Shop now at the Etsy Shop.

“The Society of Sinister Simians” explores the mysterious world of an evil collection of vicious and power hungry primates that held sway over the land centuries ago. Thanks to the efforts of the ill-fated Sourcrust archeological dig of 1887, details of this foul organization have finally come to light. In this book you will learn of The Society’s immortal leader, his powerful and brutal cadre of ministers and advisors, as well as a variety of assassins, spies, soldiers and frightful supernatural figures.
Twenty-four evil simians are fully illustrated and are accompanied by extensive biographies in the text. A map detailing the realm of sinister sway, two-page spreads of weapons and medals galleries, as well as an addendum of sinister ephemera are also included.
Next month the International Primatological Society will convene in Kyoto, Japan for their 23rd Congress. ChetArt’s monkey business will be a part of the festivities, thanks to the efforts of Laura Marsh. I met Laura last month in San Diego during our Comic-Con event. She runs the comic shop and gallery True Believersin Santa Fe and is also a director of the Global Conservation Institute. As a participate in next month’s Primatological Congress, she will be a presenting a symposium and teaching a pre-congress course. Perhaps most importantly, she’ll be exposing her colleagues to a variety of my monkey personalities in the form of Sinister Simian and Steampunk Monkey buttons that she purchased to re-sell while she’s there. Perhaps this will spark the idea for a future lecture on the migratory habits of evil, death ray wielding, megalomaniac chimps. Stay tuned…
